Justine Stewart
Justine is the creator and innovator behind The Netball Project. With demonstrated success as a player, coach, umpire, club president and state administrator, Justine has had an impressive level of involvement with netball, across a diversity of roles, at nearly every level.
With a playing history spanning over 750 games, at club and representative level combined, Justine brings a confident, competitive and inspirational energy to every game. Her highly decorated status includes an enviable list of achievements, ranging from an impressive number of individual player awards, to numerous captaincies and premierships. Predominately a formidable circle defender, Justine is able to competently play all positions on court, and has often been seen shooting goals when needed.
As an accredited coach, Justine has the ability to develop players of all age groups and levels. Under her guidance, many have been successful in their pursuit of excellence and progression along high performance pathways. With her distinctive style and highly energetic vibe, Justine translates her knowledge of the game into a commanding method that continues to deliver proven results. She has a reputation for forming cohesive teams that are well drilled in the fundamentals, as evidenced by multiple premierships, at local grassroots and representative competitions.
Further broadening her depth and understanding of the game from another angle, Justine is also a badged umpire and has been involved in the mentoring of new umpires.

Away from the court, Justine has dedicated significant amounts of time to the administration and management of netball, in both volunteer and corporate capacities.
Since her early teens, Justine actively expressed her genuine passion and willingness to contribute to the growth of her favourite sport.
Regularly volunteering to assist with all kinds of administrative matters, she quickly became an integral part and valuable member of her community. Her most significant contribution to grassroots netball, however, came about when her junior club faced a possible merger. Loyal to her beloved club, she was propelled into affirmative action, stepping into the leadership role of Club President at only 21 years of age. With unwavering committment, she focused herself on re-building the club from the ground up. She swiftly moved to recruit a team of dedicated volunteers, formulate new strategies, implement new policies and procedures, run fundraising initiatives, secure sponsors, organise social events, and initiate recruitment drives. Concurrently, she developed new branding, uniforms, and merchandise in an effort to make her re-engineered club stand out from the crowd.
Transforming the once dwindling 30 member club, into a 300+ member club that was flourishing on and off the court, Justine's stewardship was instrumental in creating a positive and fun experience for all members, in addition to providing a strong platform for player, coach and umpire development.
During her 7 year tenure as Club President, Justine also sat on the board of the Doncaster & Districts Netball Association. Dedicated to bettering everything she touched, she was a major catalyst in bringing about a rejuvenation of the association's image, having coordinated a significant re-brand that included a new logo, custom website, merchandise, apparel and updated rep. uniforms.
In a professional capacity, Justine played a fundamental role at Netball Victoria in her full-time position as Association Development & Support Coordinator. As the primary contact for all clubs and associations throughout Melbourne and regional Victoria, this role demanded a broad range of expertise ranging from governance and dispute management, to funding, grants and facility development. Along with being a well-respected and pleasant point of contact for volunteers throughout the state, Justine was the driving force in the development and implementation of two major resources; the Netball Victoria Competition Regulation, and the first Netball Victoria CyberSafety Policy.
Over a number of years, Justine, being a conscientious learner, steadily accumulated a wealth of knowledge in management, leadership, and governance. She has attended many intensive seminars and conferences, and invested significant time in furthering her coaching expertise through a number of specialist skill workshops. This pursuit of self-development ultimately led Justine to the interrelated field of fitness, where she attained multiple professional certifications.
In 2014, after many years dedicated solely to her local community, Justine launched a new and exciting High Performance Academy (FD Netball), that combined her passion for netball, fitness and holistic health, in a full-circle program for aspiring athletes. With an innate ability to identify and develop talent, this endeavour saw her carefully select and lead the inaugural squad to back-to-back premierships during the program's two year duration.
With an exponentially expanded repertoire, Justine elected to leave her career in netball administration behind, and pursue her own entrepreneurial projects in both netball and fitness. Together with her husband, she has since owned and operated successful personal training studios, and CrossFit affiliates, in Melbourne, Bali and Phuket.

In 2016, committed to living her best life, Justine, and her husband, made the bold decision to re-locate to South-East Asia. Since then, Justine has enjoyed the variety and growth that has come with an adventure seeking and nomadic lifestyle. She has spent considerable time in Italy, Indonesia, Nepal, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, and Malaysia, but for the most part, Phuket, Thailand, where she resided for almost 5 years.
Over the course of her travels, as an ever proud advocate, Justine has consistently sought opportunities to use the sport of netball as a mechanism to bring communities together. Her devotion and pro-active attitude has seen her run clinics at international schools in Bali, and Phuket, as well as train the Penang U21 State Team during their preparations for major competition. A highlight of her time abroad, has been participating in the 2018 Asia Pacific Masters' Games in Penang, where she won Gold, alongside a newly formed team of local players. Amongst many memorable experiences, are regional tournaments, and extended periods of coaching in Langkawi, where she was awarded two Certificates of Excellence by the Malaysian Government for her service to netball. One of her most fulfilling project's however, culminating all her years of service, was the establishment of Netball Phuket, the island’s first ever formal and regular netball training initiative, which quickly grew in popularity amongst locals and expatriates.
In 2023, Justine returned back to her motherland, Terra Australis, for the first time in 7 years. Excited to immerse herself, once again, in the highly developed Australian netball scene, albeit this time on the Gold Coast, she made haste to involve herself in the local association, both as a player and umpire. Enjoying the higher standard of competition available, she participated in multiple weekly fixtures and periodic tournaments, making friends and effortlessly integrating herself into the community. She quickly became a mentor for junior players, supporting them in their pursuit for excellence with her holistic guidance and specialised coaching. During her 6 month sojourn down under, Justine also completed further formal umpire training, and attained a 90% pass rate on the Rules of Netball Theory Exam.
As much as the burgeoning netball scene gave her all the reasons and more to stay, she elected to return to South-East Asia, with her sights set on establishing her new home away from home in Vietnam.
Throughout her enthralling multi-decade journey, Justine has been ever inspired by the sport's infinite capacity to bring people from all walks of life together. Having thoroughly enjoyed coaching and playing with a multitude of nationalities thus far, her love of the game has only grown, and continues to do so. She is deeply grateful for the experiences, friendships, and long-standing relationships netball has catalysed, and is immensely proud to have accumulated such an extensive netball family - one that extends all across the world, bound together in mutual love for this great game.
Justine's invaluable contribution to, and involvement in netball, has established her as a well-known and highly respected ambassador within the global netball community. Her extensive experience and knowledge for the sport is like no other, and she now shares her characteristic flair and well-earned wisdom through this dedicated platform.

Presently, Justine is based in Cambodia, home to the prolific Angkor Wat, where she is focusing her expertise toward developing a netball community for locals and expatriates alike. She is an advocate for holistic health, wellbeing, and of course, netball. Together with her remotely facilitated services, she is available to travel for netball development projects worldwide. Her love for helping people reach their potential remains her greatest motivation.
